Boston Marathon Week

We have made it to marathon week.  FINALLY!  Qualifying for Boston 15 months in advance of Boston made for a long wait for the big day but we are finally here.

I did my last long run yesterday.  This was my first week, post-shin splints that I have I completed an entire week of training or 6 days of running.  Because of this, I thought my legs were tired going into the run.  Luckily, they were only slightly tired and feeling fresh from my taper.  The first half of my run flew by and I had to force myself to slow down.  I was so excited to be running sub-8:30's and feel like they were easy.  I had an average pace of 8:33 after my turn around so told myself that I would be happy if I could keep my average pace below 8:40.  Well luckily, my body was happy to be running because I only had two miles that went above my average pace so my overall pace went down in the second half.  Yay for negative splitting a long run.

I still have an incredibly busy week before I can enjoy my Boston week.  I am kicking butt in school, but it is kicking right back with all the homework and tests.  (I have a research paper due on marathon Monday as well as a test that night!)  My husband's job search is going VERY well which is helping me to relax a bit.  My motivation to do anything last week was missing until Friday when we heard some news that I could be really OK with.  I will definitely share more news once we know for sure what we will be doing, but I will say for now, I am not as cranky as before and can focus back on my big day.

I am planning on being at the Expo on Friday not long after it opens but may go back again later on in the weekend if I get the chance.  I am so excited to buy my Boston sweatshirt that I was longing for last year.  Let the weather stalking begin.  7 days until I cross that finish line!!!!!
