Still Alive!!

Hey All...Sorry for disappearing for a while. Life has been so crazy since I started working and I have been really trying to prioritize my life, and unfortunately blogging has been put on the back burner a bit. I do have plans of keeping this updated, just not as frequently obviously.

So what is new with me? Well, first I decided to take charge of my weight and re-join Weight Watchers. During my injury break I gained some weight and while my running wasn't directly affected by it, I do know that weighing less will only help me. I am only slightly above where I was last year when I ran my 3:55 at Vermont, but I am hoping to lose an additional 15 pounds over the next 4 or so months so we will see if it helps. Taking a year off from Weight Watchers really has helped surprisingly as I am not bored with the program anymore. I have been back on program for just over 2 weeks and it hasn't been too hard. I even did a menu plan this week, another thing that has been put on the back-burner since returning to work and that has really helped to remain on program.

As for my running, things are going pretty good. I am on week 7 of my training program and it is going pretty well. Unfortunately my shoes I bought at the Disney Marathon are now worn out so I am waiting for a new pair. I did try the Superfeet orthotics that I mentioned in my last post and they solved my problem! My foot pain is pretty much gone, minus my shoes dying on me. The current training program I am doing has a lot of speed work and I am noticing that my runs are getting so much easier. I am tempted to run a 5k just to see if I can get a PR....April is looking like a good racing month so I am sure I will report back on races then.

I am getting really excited for the Vermont City Marathon. My husband and I are both running it. It will be our weekend away from the kids and hopefully a weekend of good racing. I still haven't set my goal as qualifying for Boston for Vermont. I would LOVE to qualify at Vermont, but I love the marathon so much that I am afraid to put that much pressure on myself for that race, so I may put that goal for the fall and just run and see what happens. I still haven't decided on my fall race so would love any good BQ fall races. So far I am thinking Baystate, but would love a fun one, so suggestions would be great.

Hopefully all is well with you all. I haven't even had time to read blogs lately so maybe I will get around this weekend to reading some. My oldest daughter is turning 5 on Monday so I have a week of baking coming up and I can't wait to show you pictures of the cake I have in mind to make for her. I will be making a cake for her party which is after her birthday so I will also be making something small for the day of her birthday. Fun stuff! Have a great week!

I was wondering where you had been. Glad to hear everything is OK!

It's my middle daughter's birthday on Monday too! She'll be 3!

Glad to see you back. I figured you'd try to come back to us when you got settled in at work.

I feel the same way, the injury has put the pounds on me... and while I know I'm not a "fatty" exactly, I also know it's not going to help my running to carry an extra 7 pounds for 13.1 & 26.2 miles this year!

OH, and I can't WAIT to see what creative genius you've caked for that birthday!
